The antidepressant Serzone® (nefazodone) is both a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) and a tricyclic. SSRIs treat depression by blocking the reabsorption of serotonin into the brain, while tricyclics treat depression by blocking the reabsorption of norepinephrine and serotonin.
Serzone® Side Effects
As with any drug, there are side effects associated with Serzone® use. Side effects of Serzone® include:
- Nausea
- Dizziness
- Constipation
- Rash
- Seizures
- Fever
- Headache
In addition to these side effects, Serzone® has been linked to an increased risk of liver damage.
